Yesterday, Amy and I went to Sydney. We went to the arcade, and Kinokuniya, among other things. Kinokuniya is a bookshop. It is very big and good. There are lots of books there. There is manga, Japanese language books, art books, and magazines. I didn't buy anything. But, Amy bought 6 volumes of Blue Exorcist, and a Kanji Look and Learn book. She was very happy. At the arcade, I won some plushies! I won a Neko Club plushie, and a Rilakkuma plushie. Yes! Both of the plushies are very cute, I think. I love Rilakkuma. I sometimes buy Rilakkuma goods. I have bought plushies, stationary, and bags. I like Hello Kitty. But, Luke doesn't. So, I can only buy Rilakkuma... But, that is OK. On Wednesday, Josie and I went to Kinokuniya. I bought 'Japanese Diary Notes', and 'Yotsubato! 4'. I also bought a panda shoulder bag. After that, we went to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. We saw the Noh exhibit. It was very interesting and pretty. We saw masks and kimonos among other things. I took a lot of photos! I think I might write a blog entry about it. I think that 'Japanese Diary Notes' is interesting and convenient. In the book there are lots of tips on writing a Japanese diary. I like writing in Japanese. I think that I am improving. Right now, Luke and I are watching 'Friends'. It is my favourite American TV show. It is very interesting. My favourite character is Phoebe. She is very strange. Today, I started watching a Japanese drama called 'Mischievous Kiss'. I like it. I think I will continue to watch it. Bye bye! I have decided to begin uploading my Japanese diary entries, or some of them anyway. I think that I am becoming a lot more comfortable with the language, and a little less scared about making mistakes in front of people.
I also post my entries on to Lang-8 so that native speakers can correct them. I think that is helping me improve, and become more confident. So please, if you are learning a language, I would recommend writing a diary in that language, and then, when you feel ready, uploading it to Lang-8. Everyone there is very friendly, and all learning other languages, so they know how difficult it is! I really cannot recommend Lang-8 enough. I have found it so useful. And, it is easy to make friends on Lang-8. Many users also have Skype specifically for learning their target language, so if you are able to do that, then you can chat easily with a lot of people, and if you want to practice speaking, many people like to use the video chat function!
やった!
私はスピーキングテストに合格しました!信じられません。落ちでと思ってました。 とてもうれしいです。 お祝いは何にしましょうか。 Hooray! I passed my speaking test! I can't believe it. I thought that I had failed it. What should I do to celebrate? I am honestly surprised that I passed. I didn't understand the last question the teacher asked me. He asked 'What would you want to do if...?' But, I wasn't sure what the if was... so my reply: デザートを食べたいです。私はショートケーキーが大好きです。でも、私の夫はスウェツが好きではありません。。。 I would want to eat dessert. I love short cake. But, my husband does not like sweets... Why did I say that? Oh well, I passed... Yay! I am officially finished uni for the semester as of just now!
Honestly, uni has been very difficult for me lately. My health problems have been getting worse... But, at least I found out exactly what is going on. I have fibromyalgia, scoliosis, Scheuermann's disease, and hypermobility... On their own they are bad enough, but together they are nearly unbearable... Anyway, my holiday to Japan was a lot of fun! I will make a few separate posts relating to that in the near future, probably separated by day, or by location. Not sure just yet. Oh, and I have made a friend named Saori. She is going to help me with her Japanese while I help her with her English! I always seem to manage to make friends with international students. It is not intentional... but, I like learning about other languages and cultures, so it isn't a problem. OK, well, I am officially rambling now, so I am going to finish up. がんばって! Well, my husband has encountered a ridiculous amount of obstacles in trying to get his passport so we can go to Japan on our honeymoon...
You need a parent's Australian birth certificate if you were born after a certain date. Unfortunately, Luke is not in contact with either of his parents for reasons that I won't go into here. So, he had to apply for a Citizenship Certificate (which is why we had to postpone the honeymoon from January to February), and we have been told that even then, it is up to discretion whether or not that will be accepted as valid... And, the person we had sign his photos as guarantor is not enrolled to vote as we were led to believe, so Luke has now got to get someone else to do it. I am going to ask him to double and triple check that the new person is enrolled, because one more delay and we may not get his passport in time. I cannot afford to reschedule the flights again. I already had to spend $800 to do that. So, if he cannot make it this time, we may have to cancel the flights, lose my money, and save again, then we may get there in another year or two...
Well, I have officially re-enrolled in JPS201 (Intermediate Japanese 1). I am going to pass it this time, no matter how bad my health gets, and no matter how much class I have to miss because of it.
I am trying to do everything that I can to get myself excited about going back to uni. Getting closer to fluency is definitely an exciting prospect. But, I was actually thinking that I could do all of my back to uni shopping in Japan. That way I will have lots of really cute stationary to use, which should help to motivate me, because I love using cute stationary. Since I will be visiting the Pokemon Centre and Tokyo Disneyland, as well as a lot of shopping areas, I will no doubt be able to find a lot of really awesome stationary!!! |
