This page contains a list and all of the links to the Youtube channels that I have found helpful to keep me motivated, teach me about Japan, and help a little bit with the language. If you are interested in seeing any of these channels for yourselves, please click the titles!!!
Rachel and JunRachel and Jun are a very amazing couple, living long distance. Rachel lives in America at the moment, while Jun lives in Japan. Rachel is hoping that this year she may be able to live in Japan permanently, but that depends on her job (as she works under contract).
These two make a lot of interesting videos together, of different shopping trips, and other outings. But, they also make separate videos about different things, like the differences between Japan and America, different body types in different countries and other interesting videos. Please check out their channel, and cheer them on!!! GimmeabreakmanGimmeabreakman/ Gimmeaflakeman/ the King of the Morons is a man who is living in Japan, and is married to a Japanese woman. His Japanese is excellent, and his videos are often very informative and entertaining.
He runs a few channels. His main channel is Gimmeabreakman, but he also runs a very useful channel called Japanese for Morons. On his main channel, he posts more general videos about life in Japan, but on Japanese for Morons, he posts videos specifically dedicated to teaching people Japanese. Don't be turned off by the name. He is actually quite nice, and considers himself to be the biggest moron of them all! Please, check him out if you have the chance! Having lived in Japan for 17 years, he is full of useful advice, and he is also very good at expressing himself! |
Sharla in JapanSharla is a Canadian woman living in Japan, and she has been for a few years now. She is currently a university student over there, and is working as a translator in her spare time (as well as making her awesome videos).
She makes videos about a wide variety of things, and if you want to get a glimpse at the life of a foreigner living in Japan, her channel is ideal. Though, she knows that not everyone can move overseas like she did, so she does a lot of videos about places to visit while you are on holidays too, and a few videos about how you can move to Japan too, for those of you who are really interested in taking this path!!! Sharla is a genuinely nice and interesting person, so please give her channel a visit! MicaelaMicaela's videos are very interesting to watch. Micaela has been lucky enough to have been offered many wonderful opportunities in Japan, which is truly inspiring.
Micaela is currently the mayor of Kawaii-ku, in Fukuoka. Kawaii-ku is a part of Fukuoka that exists entirely on the internet! It is quite fascinating, and has been designed to inform Fukuoka residents (who can receive official paperwork proving that they are residents of Kawaii-ku) of events happening around the prefecture. Micaela's job is to help with what information is put on the website, and also to attend events. Can you imagine being offered that opportunity! Especially as a foreigner in Japan, it would be quite an honour!!! I mean, while Kawaii-ku doesn't technically exist outside of the internet, she has still got an official job with the government. That is a huge leap forward for foreigners in Japan! |
