On the 20th of February, my husband and I made sure that we had packed everything for our honeymoon, and that we were all ready to go. I was feeling very nervous, as I don't like flying, and I was worried about leaving our cat with my sister for two weeks.
At around 4am on the 21st, after not sleeping at all (and watching Mythbusters all night with my husband and sister), we were picked up by my mum, and driven to Sydney Airport. Our flight to the Gold Coast wasn't for another few hours, so we decided to grab breakfast.
We arrived at the Gold Coast at about 10am (at the time, they were an hour behind Sydney time- bloody daylight savings). We had a three hour lay over, so again, we decided to eat, get a coffee, and read to while away the time.
The flight to Japan was long and uneventful. It was quite dull really. I did feel bad for these two young girls that were flying back to Japan with their parents. Their ears hurt, due to the cabin pressurisation, so they (especially the baby) were quite upset. I have to say, I think that the parents did a spectacular job with them!
Throughout the nine hour flight, I did pretty standard flight things (I think). I did puzzles, read a lot, ate potato chips and drank water, and tried to sleep. This was my first international flight since I was five, and I don't remember the flight very well (except that the flight attendants thought that my siblings and I were really cute, and fed us so many lollies that my sister threw up...).
And, this was my husband's first time overseas!!! He was really excited, but he also thought that the flight was really boring. We moved around as much as we could, and did these leg exercises that we were taught, to avoid getting any blood clots in our legs, which is a danger when you are flying for a long period of time! So be careful the next time you fly!
We landed at Narita Airport at about 6:30pm, Tokyo time. But, I will continue the story in another post : ) So, please keep reading!!!
